Understanding Loftia's Electrical System
Loftia simulates real-world renewable energy engineering principles tailored for floating sky environments:
- Photovoltaic Panels: Produce 50W during the daytime (06:00 to 18:00). At solar noon (12:00), clear sky conditions provide up to 60W. Panels do not generate power between 18:00 and 06:00.
- Airborne Wind Turbines: Tethered in high atmospheric currents, wind turbines produce a reliable 35W around the clock (24/7). They are your primary safeguard against overnight power loss.
- Lithium Battery Cells: Each standard battery cell stores 120 Watt-hours (Wh) of electricity. When daytime solar generation exceeds active loads, the excess charge flows directly into battery reserves.
- Brownout Penalties: If total battery reserves hit 0% during the night, automated hydroponic water pumps freeze, halting crop growth timers until solar generation kicks in at dawn.
The Ideal Homestead Setup
For a beginner homestead operating 12 hydroponic beds (30W), a kitchen stove (60W), and night lights (15W), we recommend maintaining a baseline of 4 Solar Panels, 2 Wind Turbines, and 3 Lithium Battery Cells. This guarantees a safe 18-hour overnight reserve buffer even under poor weather conditions.
